Provides comprehensive Medical Nutrition Therapy to inpients with a variety of medical conditions. This includes but is not limited to performing malnutrition assessments nutrition focused physical exams diet educions and providing nutrition support recommendions. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulions and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy policies procedures and standards while adhering to MedStar's "Spirit Values.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Consults with and/or makes recommendions to physicians and other allied health professionals regarding pients' nutritional stuses nutrient needs or specific diet plans.
  • Formules nutrition assessment evaluion and follow-up plans for pients nutrition risk as ordered by providers or according to departmental policy. Recommends and documents pient's nutrition trement findings and plan in the pients' medical record.
  • Participes in clinical rounds and approprie department/service meetings and communices approprie informion to administrive personnel in the service area.
  • Consults in/outpients in diet rionale for self-management.
  • Must be flexible to cross-cover and train in all areas including Neonal ICU and Pedirics as needed.
  • Provides staff relief and cross-coverage as deleged for in/outpient services.
  • Reviews least one annual review of literure pertinent to area(s) of responsibility and present to peers in Journal Club.
  • Performs least one formal professional presention in an area of specialty to allied health professionals or the community.
  • Attends pertinent meetings to enhance clinical practice to growth records and documents in CDR Professional Development Plan.
  • Maintains current CDR credentials and DC Licensure and completes yearly competencies as outlined by MGUH.
  • Hold current membership to professional organizion pertinent to the role.
  • Participes in licensing surveys as needed.

  • Minimal Qualificions
    Educion
    • Bachelor's degree B.S with a major in Food & Nutrition Science from an accredited college or university and the completion of an accredited dietetic internship (RDE will be considered) required and
    • Master's degree Master's degree from an accredited college or university if completed after Jan 1 2024. required
    Experience
    • 1-2 years One year of general clinical nutrition experience preferred (RDE will be considered). preferred
    Licenses and Certificions
    • REG DIET - Dietitian - Registered Commission on Dietetics Registrion within 90 Days required
    • Dietitian DC DOH - DIETDC DC Department of Health-Board of Dietetics and Nutrition within 90 Days required
    Knowledge Skills and Abilities
    • Current knowledge in clinical dietetics.
    • Able to navige Electronic Medical Record efficiently.
    • Functional with basic word processing skills.
    • Good communicor with peers and members of the interdisciplinary team.
    • Able to manage time efficiently and able to multi-task.
    • Flexibility in schedule and tasks as needed.
    • Comfortable with public speaking.
