Full Time Assistant Food Services Supervisor

Starting pay range: $22.2643 - $24.4288 per hour

Location: Normal, IL

Position Summary

The Assistant Food Services Supervisor is responsible for supporting the Food Services Supervisor in planning organizing directing and coordinating dietary activities for the residents of the McLean County Nursing Home. Work is performed according to sanitation rules and regulations. This position will contribute to the supervision of cooks and dietary aides. Essential

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist in supervision of cooks and dietary aides
• Prepare monthly work schedule of all dietary employees
• Oversee work performance of all dietary employees
• Train dietary staff on all applicable sanitation rules and regulations
• Responsible for covering dietary staff absences
• Keep records of tray cards inventory and cardex
• Prepare production sheets
• Check service line for accuracy temperatures taste etc.
• Purchase food for special occasions
• Enforce sanitation rules and regulations

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of institutional kitchen equipment maintenance needs and operations including knowledge of methods commonly used in medical diet plan operations
• Knowledge of principles and practices of meal preparation as applied to a special population including scheduling preparation and delivery of meals
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work program
• Ability to delegate authority and responsibility and to schedule and program work on a long-term basis
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing
• Ability to maintain records and prepare reports
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates residents and their families doctors staff and the general public

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent Sanitation Certificate (or completion within six months of start date)
• Willingness to be on call and to work flexible hours when needed
• Possession of valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of therapeutic diets
• Supervision experience

Physical Attributes/Demands

• Lift and maneuver moderately heavy tools and equipment
• Lift and/or move heavy objects
