Research Nutritionist Jobs in Wisconsin

A Research Nutritionist plays a key role in the nutrition industry by conducting complex studies and research on how different foods and diets impact human health. Their responsibilities include developing and managing clinical trials, analyzing data, and publishing results in scientific journals. They are often employed by academic institutions, governmental agencies, food companies, or hospitals where their research can be applied to develop new nutritional products, inform public health policy, or improve patient care. They may also conduct nutritional analyses for food labeling purposes.

Essential skills for a Research Nutritionist include a strong foundation in nutritional science, the ability to conduct rigorous research, proficiency in data analysis, and excellent written communication skills for publishing findings. They should have at least a master's degree in nutrition, dietetics, or a related field, and many employers prefer candidates with a Ph.D. A certification as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS) is often required. Prior roles that can lead to becoming a Research Nutritionist include Clinical Dietitian, Public Health Nutritionist, and Nutrition Consultant.
