Dietary Supervisor Jobs in Ontario
A Dietary Supervisor in the nutrition industry plays a crucial role in planning, organizing, and monitoring food service operation in a variety of settings including hospitals, nursing homes, and other healthcare facilities. They are responsible for ensuring that meals are prepared and served in adherence to nutritional guidelines, sanitation standards, and budget constraints. Additionally, Dietary Supervisors oversee the work of dietary staff, manage inventory, and create nutritional plans for patients in accordance with their specific dietary needs and restrictions.
As a supervisory role, the position requires strong management and organizational skills. In addition to a comprehensive knowledge of nutrition and dietetics, he or she should possess excellent communication and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in relevant software applications for diet planning and inventory management is also beneficial. A bachelor's degree in dietetics, nutrition, or a related field is typically required. Moreover, many employers prefer candidates who have the Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) credential from the Association of Nutrition & Foodservice Professionals.
