Responsibilities
  • Provide medical nutrition therapy using the Nutrition Care Process (assessment, diagnosis, intervention, monitoring, and evaluation) and document in the electronic medical record
  • Develop and implement individualized nutrition care plans, including diet modifications, supplements, nutrition support, and patient education
  • Monitor patient progress using clinical indicators (labs, weight, outcomes) and adjust care plans accordingly
  • Deliver nutrition education to patients, families, staff, and community using tailored materials and approaches
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, participate in rounds/meetings, and communicate with providers to optimize care
  • Support training of staff, students, and new hires; contribute to policy updates and quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications

Education:

  • After January 1, 2024 - Masters degree in dietetics or degree that meets the requirements of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics required.
  • Individuals credentialed as Registered Dietitians prior to January 1, 2024, are eligible with a Bachelors degree in dietetics or degree that meets the requirements of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics required.
  • Successful completion of an internship coordinated undergraduate program, or post graduate program accredited by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics required.

Experience:

  • Preferred: One year of experience as an acute clinical dietitian for entry level practice or 3+ years experience as an acute dietitian for advanced level practice.

License(s)/Certification(s):

  • Lic Dietitian - Must hold a current license or certification specific to the state of employment
    • IADHHS Iowa Department of Health and Human Services
    • IDFPR Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation
    • Wisconsin
  • Reg Dietitian required
    • CDR Commission on Dietetic Registration
  • Preferred: Cert Diabetic Educator
    • NCBDE National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators
  • Preferred: Certified Nutrition Support Clinician
    • NBNSC National Board of Nutrition Support Certification
  • Preferred: Board Certification Specialty from CDR in:
    • Oncology Nutrition
    • Gerontology Nutrition
    • Renal Nutrition
    • Pediatrics Critical Care Nutrition
  • IA/IL Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training in state(s) where providing care required within 90 days of hire.
  • IA/IL Adult Dependent Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training in state(s) where providing care required within 90 days of hire.
