Position Purpose
Under the general Supervision of the Director of Operations, the Food Services Coordinator provides a range of food service programs to each school with food of high nutritious quality in an atmosphere of cleanliness and personal caring while following all district, state and federal guidelines and regulations.
Essential Functions
Prepares and administers the food service departmental budget; recommends pricing for various products and services.
Demonstrates understanding of, monitors, and enforces staff compliance with federal, state and local school laws and regulations, mandated programs, district policies and administrative regulations and applicable collective bargaining agreements.
Monitors policies and administrative procedures related to cafeteria operations and recommend revisions.
Establishes and revises, as necessary, practices and guidelines for daily operation of cafeterias consistent with legal and District requirements.
Assists with the management of appropriate inventory of food, supplies and equipment, and the operation of cooperative purchasing for all district cafeterias.
Reviews all invoices and requests for payments prior to presentation to Director of Operations and approval from Business Office.
Under the direction of the Director of Operations, prepares financial reports for Business Office and Board of School Directors as well as maintains records for cafeteria accounts for local and state audits; and prepares specifications and bid conditions for all items requiring such bids by law of Board policy.
Coordinates maintenance, repair and replacement of all food service department equipment when needed.
Oversees the administration of the district's free and reduces priced meal program according to federal and state guidelines.
Monitors special diet needs of students with allergies and food-related disabilities; maintains documentation; trains employees; and communicates with parents, as needed.
Analyzes and monitors compliance with meal serving guidelines at all locations to ensure compliance with all federal and state meal pattern and nutrition requirements.
Supervises the planning and preparation of any meals requested for district-sponsored special events.
Inspects school lunch facilities and monitors operations to ensure that standards of cleanliness, health, and safety are being maintained.
Assists the Director of Operations in assessing industry trends and current research to develop short-term goals and a long-range plan that facilitates continuous program improvement and consults, as needed, with school planners and architects on plans and specifications for new or renovated food preparation centers.
Provides and tracks professional development for all food service employees as required by USDA standards, including own professional development.
Makes all applications for federal subsidies or rebates and for government surplus food for school cafeteria use; directs its distribution and transfer; plans disposition of government commodities as part of the ongoing food service program and verifies all government reimbursements.

Qualifications Profile
To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualification requirements listed below represent minimum levels of educational achievement, training, skill and/or ability necessary.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in food service management, nutrition, or a related field.
Five to seven years of food service management; K-12 education preferred.
Experience with government food programs and regulations including NSL Program, ECOS, HACCP, and nutrition and wellness standards.
Up to date USDA training required to assume position at time of hire.
Serv Safe Certification
Eligibility for Department of Health Food Safety Certificate
OR;
Any combination of training and experience determined to be acceptable by the Department of Human Resources and Superintendent of Schools.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
12 month (260-262 days)
Salary and Benefits in accordance with Act 93 Non-Supervisory agreement
$55,000 - $69,500
