Description
The Classroom and Nutrition Aide supports the Early Head Start Program by helping with daily meal service and classroom activities for preschool-aged children. This role ensures a safe, healthy, and welcoming mealtime environment, while also reinforcing positive habits, manners, and safety practices. The position also assists with classroom transitions, record-keeping, and other program needs, contributing to the overall success of Head Start's education and nutrition goals.
What You'll Do:
Coordinate and assist with setup, serving, and cleanup of meals and snacks.
Eat with children to encourage conversation, positive social skills, and proper use of utensils.
Reinforce health, safety, and hygiene practices throughout mealtime.
Maintain accurate logs and records related to food service and sanitation.
Support staff with arrival and departure routines.
Attend trainings, workshops, and meetings as required.
Perform other duties as assigned to support classroom and program needs.
What You Bring:
High School Diploma or willingness to obtain GED within 1 year of employment.
Experience with food service and/or supervising preschool children preferred.
Problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
Patience and strong interpersonal skills.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
