Dietary Worker Job Description The dietary worker supports food service operations by preparing and serving meals for patients, cafeteria guests, and special functions in a hospital setting. Essential Skills Ability to perform cleaning, mopping, sweeping, and general janitorial duties in a food service environment. Ability to follow instructions and use established techniques for efficient and compliant completion of duties. Knowledge of or ability to learn the proper and safe use of applicable custodial equipment. Capacity to perform dishwashing tasks, including operating dish machines and handling dishware safely. Ability to provide courteous and timely service to patients and cafeteria customers. Basic cash handling skills and ability to operate a cash register, or willingness to learn. Reliability in attending work and arriving for scheduled shifts on time with satisfactory regularity. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and some holidays.
