Dietitian-Clinical Nutrition - Oncology - 40 Hours - Days

GENERAL SUMMARY

Provides medical nutrition therapy and evaluates effectiveness of treatments.

Responsibilities:

• Assesses patients for nutritional status.

• Provides interventions/treatments including diet therapy, counseling or specialized nutrition supplements.

• Collaborates with physicians, nursing and ancillary services such as speech pathology or physical therapy.

• Monitors tolerance and effectiveness of nutritional regimen and recommends therapy adjustments as necessary.

• Provides medical nutrition therapy and evaluates effectiveness of treatments.

• Provides nutrition information for the community that may include public speaking, news releases and other forms of publications.|

• Researches and takes initiatives to resolve nutrition care related complaints and problems.

• Assists in monitoring meals including intake, diet compliance and tray accuracy.

• Maintains sanitation of food preparation area(s) through planned and unannounced inspections.

Complexity of Work:

• Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Must be able to work in a stressful environment.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Required Credential(s):
• Dietitian/Nutritionist credentialed from the Commission on Dietetic Registration obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• Preferred Credential(s):
• Advanced Life Support. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• BLS Provider. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Educator specializing in Diabetes Management.

Education:

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree

OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
