This position has a highly responsible role in providing nutrition and financial services to students and staff on a regular basis. All Duneland employees interact with individuals both inside and out of the corporation and therefore, must have the ability to present a professional and organized image at all times. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months related experience and or equivalent combination of education and experience in School Nutrition. Starting Hourly Rate: $17 PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Assists Child Nutrition Site Lead with the day to day operation of the kitchen. Acts as Site Lead in their absence. Participates with staff preparation of breakfast and lunch daily that comply with the state and federal regulations and guidelines. Assists Site Lead with ordering, stocking and inventory of food and supplies. Maintains and cleans kitchen equipment to meet local, state and federal sanitation standards. Attend sanitation training and obtain and maintain ServeSafe Certification. Assists Site lead with providing ongoing training to kitchen staff. Works with staff to maintain an efficient and flowing serving line and kitchen to serve students and staff in a timely manner. Assists with daily production and evaluation sheets. Assumes responsibility for kitchen personnel. Performs other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor. Assists with catering and organizing events. Applies management principles to establish and maintain high standards of control for quality food production, presentation and service. Works closely with the Child Nutrition Director and Child Nutrition Office Staff to ensure all regulations are followed. Performs other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Demonstrate interpersonal skills necessary to deal tactfully and effectively with persons at all levels in order to develop and maintain productive relationships both inside and outside the corporation. Ability to learn new skills quickly and assimilate into daily work. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality both inside and outside the corporation. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Ability to multi-task with attention to detail. Proficiency in the use of all Food Services equipment. Demonstrated organizational and time management skills. Recognize, analyze and offer solutions to problem situations related to daily work. Ability to remain calm and professional during times of high stress. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (includes equipment, hours, physical demands) Work Environment: This position typically works in facilities with a controlled temperature environment. Occasional exposure to inclement weather conditions may occur depending upon assignments. Equipment: This position is required to maintain a working knowledge of all Child Nutrition equipment. A basic knowledge of operations concerning computers, printers, telephone systems, fax machines and copiers is required. Hours: This position is typically expected to work an average of 8 hours per day. Summer hours will be adjusted as per the Child Nutrition Director throughout the summer period. Evening, weekend and holiday activities will be scheduled as necessary. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by all Duneland School Corporation Child Nutrition Assistant Site Leads to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
