Job Details:

Summary: This position assists business units and R&D Food Scientists in developing, analyzing, and verifying nutrition data for new and existing products. Responsibilities include validating nutrient content claims with regulatory guidance, integrating nutrition data into Tyson systems, and collaborating with various departments to ensure accurate nutrition data. Incorrect information could halt production or remove products from commerce, resulting in financial costs. This role maintains knowledge of federal and corporate standards for nutrition labeling and product development and completes special projects as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, analyze, and verify nutrition data for print and other mediums.
  • Validate nutrient content claims with correct regulatory guidance.
  • Integrate nutrition data into Tyson nutrition systems for assigned brands.
  • Collaborate with Product Developers, Culinary, Sales, Marketing, Food Safety and Quality Assurance, Procurement, Consumer Relations, and Corporate Lab.
  • Provide technical expertise in analyzing and interpreting nutrition data.
  • Ensure accuracy of nutrient data for company products and ingredients.
  • Maintain knowledge of federal and corporate standards for nutrition labeling and product development.
  • Familiarity with food allergens and Child/Adult feeding programs preferred.
  • Maintain professional competency and skills required for professional credentials.
  • Manage projects effectively to meet objectives and timelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Education: Current RD credentials (approved by Commission on Accreditation from Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics), with certification/license as required by state. BS required, MS preferred, from a US regionally accredited college or university with completion of a dietetics program and supervised practice program.

Experience: 2+ years work experience in Research and Product Development-Human Nutrition or related field. Broad technical knowledge related to human nutrition, nutrition science, and food science.

Computer/Office Skills: Excellent computer skills, proficient in MS Office products. Experience with nutrition analysis software such as Genesis is a plus. Good business phone/email etiquette. Ability to communicate professionally with cross-functional partners. Effective in providing regulatory guidance for innovation, growth, and profitability.

Communication Skills: Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to create and present professional presentations. Positive customer service attitude.

Special Skills: Strong critical thinking skills. Ability to organize critical data through Product Data Management (PDM) workflows. Understanding of formulations and product processing requirements to ensure compliance. Good mathematical skills and understanding of nutrient composition for nutrition analysis. Advanced understanding of food ingredients and preparation techniques. Attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Travel: 3+ trips per year.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Must reside in the United States to be considered.
