Simmons College is looking for a part time nutritionist with dual responsibilities for both clinical care and health promotion, reporting to both the Medical Director of the Health Center and the Director of Health Education. Approximately 70% of the nutritionist's time will be spent in providing clinical care at the Health Center to students with eating disorders, obesity and other medical/health concerns. The remaining 30% of time will be spent in actively developing and implementing health education activities on campus, including working with other departments to promote a culture of wellness at Simmons that contributes to student success. Requirements: Registered dietitian with specific experience in working in clinical settings with clients who have eating disorders and other eating concerns. Experience with late adolescents and young adults preferred. Must have strong interest in actively promoting health and be a motivated self starter who can work on a team but also create/implement health education programs and projects with little supervision. This is a 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. two days weekly, not including Friday. Very occasional evening hours might be required for health education programming. 1. Provides nutrition assessments for individual patients, prepares personalized nutrition care plans, and educates, counsels and motivates patients to understand, accept and follow the individualized dietary, health and fitness pro-grams suggested. 2. Confers with Health Center providers and appropriate staff regarding individual patients and families. 3. Provides in-service nutrition instruction to staff and orients new employees to nutrition services provided. Evalu-ates and recommends nutrition component of services at the Health Center. 4. Develops culturally appropriate educational materials on nutritional issues. 5. Develops nutrition policies and protocols for various state and federal programs based on government guidelines and recommendations. 6. Maintains and expands current level of professional knowledge of nutrition theory and practice through continuing education programs. HOURS: Full -time 40 hours per week, Exempt. Position offers competitive salary and excellent benefit package. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Bachelor's degree in food and nutrition, Master's degree preferred. 2. Certification by the American Dietetic Association required, Registered Dietitian. 3. At least three years experience, preferably in an ambulatory care setting. 4. Ability to work independently.
