Overview: This position, in collaboration with the Registered Dietitians and members of the health care team, provides clinical nutrition care for moderate and low nutritional risk patients. Provides nutrition education to patients and families on appropriate meal selections within dietary restrictions to accomplish patient goals. Responsibilities: Provides nutritional education and instruction on identified diet plans to individual patients, patients in group settings, and patient families based upon physician order and/or nutritional education needs. Must use standard precautions due to threat of exposure to blood and bodily fluids. Ability to communicate effectively. May require periodic use of personal computer. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSThis position requires completion of an Associate Degree from an approved American Dietetic Association (ADA) Dietetic Technician program and be registered within 6 months of employment, or have a Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition or Dietetics, or Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) with demonstrated equivalent knowledge as typically obtained with 3-5 years experience within the field. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience in Nutrition within an acute care setting is preferred.Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
