JOB OBJECTIVE: Manage and direct the Nutrition, Education and Outreach (NEO) section of the Texas Department of Agriculture?s (TDA) Food and Nutrition Division (F&N) to contribute to the awareness of the Texas nutrition programs as well as educate the community, program participants and staff on program rules, regulations and policies. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:1. Serve as the primary nutrition expert for the agency and division and direct the outreach, nutrition initiatives, School Meal Initiative reviews and training activities of the Division.2. Ensure compliance with the agency?s strategic initiative by providing clear direction and expectations as well as effective management of the activities of the NEO section of F&N. Oversee the consolidation and implementation of the annual NEO section strategic plan including establishing short- and mid-term goals and objectives; developing and/or approving schedules, priorities and standards for achieving goals for the NEO section.3. Coordinate and supervise the NEO staff to develop and maintain an efficient, knowledgeable and capable workforce ensuring established targets and deadlines are met.4. Assess operational procedures and internal controls to identify and manage risk.5. Develop and monitor the NEO budget request and assist the Director of Business Operations with any needed revisions.6. Develop guidelines, procedures, rules and regulations for the NEO section.7. Assess performance of NEO staff and ensure recommended training is taken and implemented.8.
