Job Title: Nutrition Director Company: Location: Del Rio, TX Description: JOB SUMMARY: Under the administrative direction of the Community Services Director, responsible for the administration and supervision of the Nutrition Department. Plans and implements programs for the elderly. Performs other related work as required. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Supervises and directs the activities . Assists and ensures the preparation, administration and management of grants and grant programs. Oversees financial compliance and financial management. Administers all projects. Prepares and submits budgets. Provides contract monitoring and enforcement of all State, Federal, City and Area agencies on aging regulations and guidelines. Prepares timely and accurate monthly financial reports. Coordinates activities with other agencies. Provides leadership in the advocacy of issues affecting the elderly. Plans menus to meet nutrition requirements. Purchases food, equipment and supplies. Supervises and trains staff including clerical personnel, kitchen personnel and van drivers. Directs the activities of staff including food production, record-keeping, safety procedures and sanitary procedures. Communicates effectively and courteously with the public, and the media in person, in writing, and by telephone. Supervises the collection and deposit of donations for meals. Responds to inquiries for information. Performs other related work as required. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED: Receives administrative supervision from the Community Services Director. Provides supervisory duties, coordinates work activities and program functions for the Nutrition Department. Resolves issues in problem areas and recommends corrective action. Supervises, trains, and evaluates positions under his/her supervision. Works to correct departmental deficiencies and implement discipline procedures. The principal duties of this position are performed in an office environment. ALCOHOL AND DRUG TESTING POLICY: subject to the Alcohol and Drug Testing Policy Pre-employment testing, Post-Accident Testing, Random Testing MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor?s degree in Business/Public Administration or closely related field preferred. High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum three years experience in related field. Persons with higher education desirable. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of federal and state grant availability, audit requirements and grant administration. Ability to write grants and comprehend submission requirements. Knowledge of regulations and guidelines of City, State, Federal and Area agencies on aging. Knowledge of safety procedures. Knowledge of managerial practices and techniques. Knowledge of sanitary procedures. Skill in oral and written communications. Comprehensive knowledge of management theory, practices, procedures and techniques. Working knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, procurement and personnel. Ability to prepare and present effective public presentations. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with elected officials, management, departments, other professionals and general public. Skill in courteously and effectively working with the public.Skill in supervising and counseling employees. Ability to develop, interpret and apply departmental policies and procedures in making work decisions or in providing information to others. Ability to make decisions, exercise resourcefulness, organize, and prioritize tasks to meet a variety of demands.
