Job Title: Dietary Aides Company: Location: Okemos, MI Description: Responsible for evaluating all aspects of the Nutrition Services Department including code compliance, sanitation and infection control, meal preparation and service, purchasing systems, and resident?s nutritional status. Gives recommendations to improve each aspect. Assists in planning, organizing and enforcing systems to meet Extendicare?s standards. Follows all Extendicare policies and procedures. Visits assigned facilities in compliance with code requirements and Extendicare standards. · Completes a Kitchen Sanitation Checklist monthly, evaluating the department for code compliance; sanitation and infection control; meal preparation and service; and purchasing systems. Reviews the Kitchen Sanitation Checklist with the Administrator and Nutrition Service Manager. Monitors the overall operation of the department including productivity, staffing patterns, and cost containment. Discusses Quality Validation Reviews and state surveys with the Nutrition Services Manager and evaluates corrective action taken. Ensures OSHA compliance in Nutrition Services area. Completes nutritional assessments on all residents within time frames set by state regulations and Extendicare standards and procedures. Makes recommendations to Nursing Services, Nutrition Services and physicians on residents? nutritional care and Extendicare standards and procedures. Monitors and evaluates residents at nutritional risk. Reviews and approves Diet Extended Menus (therapeutic menus). Attends resident IPOC/Care Planning meetings as requested. Works under the guidance of an Extendicare Registered Dietitian. Planning and organizing. Assists in problem identification and implementation of solutions. Assists in developing and implementing efficient procedures and systems. Assists in determining equipment, staffing and budgetary needs of the department. Assists in adherence to state and federal regulations and Extendicare?s standards and procedures. Attends department head meetings as requested. Education Services Provides inservices to Nutrition Services and other staff as required by state regulations as needed in facility. Serves as a preceptor for those employees involved in a Dietary Manager?s course. Trains and/or assists in training new Nutrition Services Manager and Dietitians. Participates in Performance Improvement teams as requested. Follows facility dress and personal hygiene policies. Safety: Knows and follows facility rules. · Demonstrates proper use of equipment. Reports equipment needs or repairs. Follows facility-smoking policies. Reports any incidents or accidents of residents. staff or visitors to appropriate facility personnel. Performs duties, which may include transportation of residents, as assigned in Facility Disaster Plan. Uses required protective equipments. Reports all hazardous conditions/equipment to Supervisor. Complies with laws and regulations applicable to position and acts in accordance with Extendicare?s Corporate Compliance Program. Treats al residents, visitors, and staff with courtesy. Works overtime, holiday and weekend hours as scheduled. Assists in orientation and training of employees as assigned. Keeps the administrator informed of Departmental matters. Helps the residents exercise and/or protect their rights. Reports resident complaints to management. Maintains confidentiality of resident information. Adheres to Extendicare?s policies and procedures implementing HIPAA requirements for the privacy and security of protected health information. Participates in all-hands dining. Is available for ?on call? as needed.
